German footballer Thomas Müller has extended his contract with Canadian club Vancouver Whitecaps until the end of Major League Soccer’s short 2027 season. The club announced the deal on September 29, Asharq Al-Awsat reports.
The short MLS season is expected to run from February to May 2027. After that, in July 2027, the league plans to switch to an international calendar on a summer-to-spring schedule.
Müller’s physical condition
In a video released by Vancouver, Müller said he is happy to be with the team and feels physically well. According to him, he enjoys taking to the field every week, while the team aims to achieve its goals.
The club’s chief executive officer and sporting director, Axel Schuster, said that the 37-year-old player assessed his physical condition and his ability to play another season before extending the deal. According to Schuster, the footballer does not want to continue playing until those around him believe he should already have ended his career.
