From reproductive rights to climate change to Big Tech, The Independent is on the ground when the story is developing. Whether it’s investigating the financials of Elon Musk’s pro-Trump PAC or producing our latest documentary, ‘The A Word’, which shines a light on the American women fighting for reproductive rights, we know how important it is to parse out the facts from the messaging.

At such a critical moment in US history, we need reporters on the ground. Your donation allows us to keep sending journalists to speak to both sides of the story.

The Independent is trusted by Americans across the entire political spectrum. And unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock Americans out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. We believe quality journalism should be available to everyone, paid for by those who can afford it.

Kamala Harris’ Gen-Z-focused social media page has taken a swipe at President Trump’s failed political endorsements.

Harris, who was defeated by Trump after jumping into the presidential race back in 2024, launched her account, Headquarters, back in February.

The account, which was repurposed from her previously campaign page KamalaHQ, regularly blasts the president over his public gaffes and policy decisions.

On Wednesday, the Headquarters account hit out at the commander-in-chief again, this time highlighting all of the candidates who were endorsed by Trump this year – only to lose their primaries.

Several Republican heavy hitters made the list, including embattled Representative Cory Mills – the incumbent in the race – who lost the Republican primary for Florida’s 7th District on Tuesday.

Representative Andy Ogles, who previously wrote on X that “Muslims don’t belong in American society,” also featured on the Headquarters list, having lost his House primary in Tennessee earlier in August.

“Andy is a Conservative Warrior who has strong support from his Community,” Trump had written on Truth Social, referencing Ogles.

Burt Jones and Pamela Evette, both sitting Lieutenant Governors running to become governors in their respective states, Georgia and South Carolina, also featured.

Trump’s endorsement has long been highly coveted by Republican politicians, although, increasingly, cracks appear to be forming in his MAGA base.

Former loyalist Marjorie Taylor Greene, who infamously broke with Trump over the Epstein files, wrote on X this week: “I can’t remember the last time I saw someone wearing a maga (sic) hat or Trump shirt.”

Meanwhile, an analysis by The New York Times suggested that viewership of right-wing influencers’ accounts on YouTube, X, and Rumble has plummeted in recent months.

Harris, who lost in a landslide to Trump, has continued to make public appearances since her defeat and even embarked on an international book tour promoting her tell-all book about the 2024 campaign, 107 Days.

Harris has also consistently been a frontrunner in polls tracking who will become the next Democratic presidential candidate, but recently had one of her own endorsements in a U.S. Senate race dismissed.

The former vice president had thrown her support behind Alaskan Mary Peltola, who would go on to win the Democratic Senate primary, last week.

“If there’s anyone who can flip Alaska and secure the Senate majority for Democrats – it’s Mary,” an email sent to supporters and signed by Harris read.

Peltola’s spokesperson later dismissed the endorsement in a statement handed to KTUU, using a term for the contiguous U.S.

“Mary isn’t seeking endorsements from anyone from the Lower 48 – her focus is and always will be Alaska,” the spokesperson said.

Nate Adams, the spokesperson for Republican incumbent Dan Sullivan, hit out at the endorsement in a statement given to The Guardian.

“Kamala Harris supported the Biden administration’s disastrous anti-Alaska agenda, which is why Alaskans rejected her by double digits,” the statement read.

The full Headquarters list of candidates who received a Trump endorsement and lost their primaries includes:

    • Cory Mills, (FL-7)
    • Catalina Lauf, (FL-19)
    • Jon Maples, FL HD-87
    • Megan Degenfelder, WY Gov.
    • Mike Lindell, MN Gov.
