Haiti - Social : 30,500 kits already distributed by FAES to the most vulnerable families.

As the new school year begins, the cost of supplies remains a challenge for many families. To help ease this burden, the Economic and Social Assistance Fund (FAES) is stepping up its efforts on the ground.

On the morning of Tuesday, September 8, 2026, 6,500 school kits were handed over to the Departmental Emergency Operations Center (COUD) in Fort-Liberté (Northeast). A few hours later, another 7,500 kits were distributed to the COUD in Vaudreuil, Cap-Haitien (North), bringing the total number of kits distributed so far under this national mission to 30,500.

These supplies are intended for public high schools and national schools, which will handle their redistribution to the targeted students and families. Behind these figures lies a practical goal: enabling more children to start the school year with the necessary supplies while reducing some of the expenses weighing on the most vulnerable households.

This initiative is part of a mission covering five departments : Artibonite, Northwest, Northeast, North, and Centre.

The operation began on Sunday, September 6, in the Artibonite department. During the initial stages, 10,000 kits were handed over to representatives in Artibonite, while the Departmental Directorate of Education (DDE) for the Northwest received 6,500.

However, the mission is not yet complete. Following the distribution rounds in Artibonite, the Northwest, the Northeast, and the North, the teams are set to continue their deployment in the Centre department before heading to the Greater South region.

For families with limited resources, each kit represents a welcome form of assistance at a time when back-to-school expenses are mounting. For students, it is also a matter of having better material conditions for their return to school.

The start of the school year is therefore more than just a date on the calendar. For the most vulnerable households, it represents an annual financial challenge that can be difficult to manage. By directly addressing one of these essential needs, the initiative aims to play its part in making the return to school a little more accessible for the children and families who need it most.
