Haiti and Angola strengthen their cooperation
On the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly, Ms. Raina Forbin, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Téte Antóniole, Minister of External Relations of the Republic of Angola, signed two Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening and diversifying cooperation between Haiti and Angola.
The first MoU establishes a mechanism for regular political consultations between the two foreign ministries. It will allow the two countries to deepen their dialogue on bilateral, regional, and international issues of common interest and to strengthen their collaboration within international organizations and forums.
The second MoU establishes a partnership between the Jean Price-Mars Diplomatic Academy of Haiti and the Venâncio Moura Diplomatic Academy of Angola, specifically for the training and professional development of diplomats, the exchange of experts, researchers, and students, as well as the sharing of experiences and knowledge in diplomacy and international relations.
A third cooperation agreement between the two countries is currently being negotiated, reflecting their shared desire to further expand the scope of their partnership.
In accordance with the guidelines set by Prime Minister Fils-Aimé, Haiti intends to strengthen its ties with its African partners and establish new partnerships based on cooperation, solidarity, and mutually beneficial interests.
Through this rapprochement with Angola, Minister Forbin is continuing to expand Haiti’s diplomatic network by deploying an active diplomacy, open to new areas of cooperation and resolutely serving the interests of the country and the Haitian people.
