Côte d’Ivoire beat Somalia 2-0 in AFCON qualifying

In Ghana, the Côte d’Ivoire national team defeated Somalia 2-0 in a qualifying match for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations. As MyJoyOnline reports, the Ivorian team was unable to open the scoring for a long time but scored twice late in the match.

    Late goals

Yann Gogo opened the scoring in the 88th minute. In stoppage time, Bazamuna Toure doubled Côte d’Ivoire’s advantage, earning the team three points.

After the first two matches, the Côte d’Ivoire national team has six points and is second in Group C, behind Gambia only on goal difference.

    Situation in Group C

Gambia had earlier come from behind to beat Ghana 4-2 in Accra. After two matches, Ghana have no points and are bottom of the group.

In November, Côte d’Ivoire will play two matches against Gambia. Two wins in these fixtures will give the Ivorians 12 points and could bring them closer to qualification, depending on the results of other matches.
