Haiti's Minister of Commerce calls on citizens to register on the electoral list

On Friday, August 7, 2026, as part of the ongoing electoral process, James Monazard, the Minister of Commerce and Industry, registered to vote at the National High School in Pétion-ville.

Speaking on this occasion, Monazard emphasized that voter registration is an essential step enabling every citizen to exercise their right to vote in the upcoming elections, scheduled for December 13, 2026.

The Minister stated that he wanted to set an example by fulfilling his civic duty, while reaffirming the importance of citizen participation in strengthening democracy.

He took the opportunity to call on all citizens to register to vote. He also invited employees of his Ministry, entrepreneurs, private sector stakeholders, and operators in the commercial and industrial sectors to take this civic step.

“Before being a Minister, I am a citizen,” declared James Monazard. He reiterated that holding public office does not exempt one from civic duties. According to him, elections are a fundamental lever for promoting the country’s progress and strengthening democratic institutions.

He acknowledged, however, that the success of the electoral process requires the Government to continue its efforts to create the conditions conducive to holding credible elections and laying the foundations for a better future for Haiti.
