    DR : Haitian Passport Office Temporarily Closed

    In a note dated August 4th, 2026, addressed to Philippe Jabon, General Supervisor of the Passport Unit, and Ms. Lydia Clement, Head of the Passport Unit, the Haitian Ambassador to the Dominican Republic, Emmanuel Fritz Longchamp, wrote : “The Embassy of Haiti in the Dominican Republic informs you that it has decided to temporarily close the passport unit. Therefore, it instructs you to ask all officials of the Ministry of the Interior and Communities (MICT) assigned to this unit to refrain from reporting to the Embassy until further notice. This measure is effective upon receipt of this note.” To date, no explanation has been made public regarding the reason for this temporary closure.

    TPS : Support Measures at the Consulate in Miami

    In response to the elimination of TPS, the Consulate General of Haiti in Miami has announced the implementation of several measures to support Haitian nationals who may be affected by the new immigration regulations adopted in the United States (elimination of TPS).     NOTICE from the BRH

    In its ongoing efforts to regulate the financial market and encourage more responsible behavior regarding both payment systems and loan repayments, the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) informs the public that any individual who, within a 12-month period, issues five unpaid checks returned for insufficient funds will be subject to a one-year checkbook ban. Any debtor of the aforementioned financial and credit institutions who has more than 90 days of arrears falls into the category of non-productive debtors or those in a situation of prolonged payment delays, comparable to repeated payment incidents or an accumulation of unpaid installments.

    Qatar : Towards a Diplomatic Partnership

    On Wednesday, August 5, 2026, Pierre-Richard Cajuste, Ambassador of Haiti to Qatar, paid a courtesy visit to His Excellency Abdulaziz bin Mohamed Al-Horr, Director of the Diplomatic Institute of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar. Discussions focused on prospects for cooperation between the Diplomatic Institute and the Jean Price-Mars Diplomatic Academy of the Haitian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, particularly in the areas of training, capacity building, sharing of experiences, and academic exchanges.

    ZED Airlines apologizes again

    In a statement, ZED Airlines acknowledges the numerous unanswered messages and offers its apologies. To better address customer complaints, the company has established two dedicated channels: Email : concerns@zedairlines.com and a special number (WhatsApp only) : +5093730-2004. Note : These channels are exclusively reserved for handling complaints. “The ZED Airlines team is committed to ensuring careful follow-up on each complaint.”

    Reminder : OFATMA Insurance is Mandatory

    The General Directorate of the Office of Occupational Accident, Illness, and Maternity Insurance (OFATMA) reminds public institutions, formal sector employers, private companies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and all workers and employers concerned that subscribing to Occupational Accident, Illness, and Maternity Insurance is a legal obligation, except for those who choose to enroll voluntarily. Consequently, all heads of public institutions, private companies, and non-governmental organizations who are not yet in compliance are urged to visit their nearest OFATMA office no later than September 30, 2026, to complete the required formalities and comply with current legal provisions.
