A Lincolnshire cyclist has taken to the county’s roads to compete against seasoned pros in his first Tour of Britain.
Jacob Bush, 21, from Stamford, is representing the Great Britain Cycling Team in the 565-mile (910km) race, which started on Wednesday and included the gruelling Michaelgate climb in Lincoln.
As a child, Bush tried several sports, including alpine skiing, but he decided to focus on road cycling after the pandemic. His achievements so far include bagging a silver at the 2026 National Criterium Championships.
Speaking before the race, he said: “The first two stages of the race are the most special to me, as both start in my home county of Lincolnshire.”
Stage two today runs from Boston to Skegness via Woodhall Spa, Horncastle, Louth and the Lincolnshire coast, while stage three takes riders from Hull to Beverley through Withernsea, Hornsea and Skipsea, East Yorkshire.
Stage one of the race started in Lincoln on Wednesday and headed through the Lincolnshire Wolds, Market Rasen, Caistor, Waddingham and Ingham before the riders returned to the city for the finish.
Ahead of that, Bush said he was “really excited” to hit Michaelgate, as all his family and friends would be there.
